Garador Mk4/F-type Garage Door Spring

This Garador garage door spring assembly is designed to work with Mk4 (Mark 4) doors, also known as F-type doors. These doors were manufactured by Garador through until approximately the year 2002. This spring is supplied with a top anchor pin, and they have high-impact plastic tubes which improves their performance. 

The springs are enclosed within the metal frame at either side of the garage door, which will need to be opened to access the springs.

The spring is supplied as a complete assembly, comprising both the inner and outer springs with high-impact plastic tube. The supplied connector pin attaches the top end of the spring to the door frame.

It is always recommended to replace springs in pairs so that the door remains balanced.

What do the numbers on the different springs mean?

The spring number indicates the spring strength. They can vary depending on the door, as Mk 4 doors come in many different sizes and styles. Using the spring chart below, you will be able to identify the required spring number provided you know the width, height and pattern of your door. This information is also usually displayed on the label on the inside of the garage door. 

How can I identify if these are the springs I need?

The Mk4 springs are easily identifiable by their design, comprising an inner and out spring separated by a white plastic tube.

The spring number is usually stamped in the top eyelet of the spring itself, or on older springs it may be stamped into the top of the plastic collar. If this is worn or not visible, you can identify the spring strength using our handy spring chart further down the page, based on the width and height of your garage door.
