Early model of Cardale garage door, manufactured pre-1984. The door usually featured a coiled spring 'drum' box unit - either a singular unit located centrally above the door, or one units located either side of the door at the top of the frame.
Whilst the spring drum units are now obsolete, there are a range of spare parts still available for these models of door, which you can view below.
This door can be easily upgraded to a more modern mechanism using a canopy door gear.
The CD45 was the name of Cardale's canopy garage door model manufactured between 1984 and 2000. It is distinctive for the hexagonal 'nut'-shaped end to the plastic cone.
The door has one long torsion spring running across above the top of the door, which the plastic cones attach onto the end of.
Many spare parts are still available for this door, including cables, locks and roller spindles. Unfortunately, replacement torsion springs are no longer manufactured, and if this part is broken it would require upgrading with a new door mechanism.
Cardale canopy doors manufactured from 2000 onwards were referred to as either CD Professional or Safelift models. This mechanism was also commonly used on doors supplied by Wickes or B&Q.
These doors featured a torsion spring running across the top of the door with a plastic 'drum' pulley on either end. These were either blue and grey in colour on earlier models, or red and black in later models - although both are interchangeable.
The door also featured a modern anti-drop safety mechanism, meaning if the door's spring or cables were the fail, the falling door would lock in place rather than slamming shut.
Below you will find a range of spare parts to suit retractable Cardale garage doors. Retractable doors retract fully back into the garage when open. The below spare parts will suit door models including Slideaway, Entex and CEN doors.
