Henderson Dolphin Green Garage Door Spring

Henderson Green Dolphin spring for use on "Double Dolphin" garage doors above 12'0" wide. It was also used on Doric tracked ('Georgian' pattern) single retractable doors between 8'0" to 9'0" wide.

Henderson Dolphin springs were all manufactured to similar dimensions, but using a different grade of metal to achieve the difference in spring strength. Usually the Dolphin springs were identified by their colour; either yellow, grey or green. The Dolphin green springs are the strongest of the three springs, most commonly found on double-width garage doors.

How can I identify this spring?

The Henderson Dolphin doors were a range of aluminium, or occasionally timber, garage doors, supplied with either yellow, grey or green springs, depending on the door model and size.

I have one broken spring, can I just replace the broken spring?

It is always recommended to replace springs in pairs, so that the door remains balanced. This is because the new spring will be stronger than a spring that has been on the door for many years.

Is this Henderson garage door spring easy to install?

To install your new spring, firstly disconnect any electric opener from the door, if present.

The door will need to be propped open to ensure the springs are in their most relaxed state. If you need to remove an existing spring, you are able to loosen off the bottom adjuster using a spanner to enable you to remove the spring.

To attach your new spring to the door, firstly insert the top spring hook through the hole in the door pivot arm. Secondly hook the bottom end of the spring onto the adjuster. Finally tighten the adjuster using a spanner until taught. Test the operation of the door manually to ensure smooth and adjust tension as required.
