- Garador current part no: 45
- Garador old part no: 1877015
How can I identify if these are the cables I need?
Modern Garador and Hormann canopy doors have a single torsion spring running above the door with a cast metal ‘drum’ at either end, around which the cable runs down each side of the door. G3 canopy cables have a metal stud at each end of the cable.
Should I still replace both if only one cable has broken?
Yes, it is recommended to swap out both cables which is why we supply this product in pairs. By replacing both you make sure that the door is stable and balanced. When you replace the cables, it is also best practice to use light machine oil on the moving parts of the mechanism. This can help prolong the lifespan of the cables.
What are the specifications of these replacement Garador cables?
The cables have a length of 55” (1397mm) and a diameter of 2mm. They have a metal ferrule stud end at either end of the cable.
How can I install these Garador G3/C-Type cables?
It is recommended to wear protective eyewear and gloves when replacing garage door cables.

The spring is under tension. Please follow instructions carefully to avoid injury.
Wear protective gloves and eye protection. Two persons may be required for this operation.
BOTH cables must be replaced as the spare cables may be a different length to the originals. If only the broken cable is replaced the door may not operate correctly.
Tighten the two grub screws in the left hand side spring casing.
Thread the end of the cable into the slot of the roller bracket assembly.
- Undo the two grub screws in the cable drum, slide the cable drum towards the centre of the door.
- The cable can now be inserted into the fixing slot.
- Rotate the drum so that the cable winds onto the rear of the drum.
- Ensure the cable runs down the inside of the track.
- When the cable is taut, slide the drum to the outside and tighten both grub screws.
- Repeat for opposite side.
Undo the two grub screws that were tightened in step 1.
